Her father is Spanish-Mexican and her mother is Irish-Cherokee Indian.

Alana originally auditioned for the role of Det. Nina Cassady when the Law & Order creators offered her the part of Connie Rubirosa.

When she went for roles that called for an Hispanic actress, she was told she didn't look Latin enough.

Alana was nominated for the Imagen Award as Best Supporting Actress - Television for her role on Law & Order in 2007.

Her all-time favorite male Law & Order cast member is Benjamin Bratt.

She once lived in South Africa for a year.

She met her husband when they both modeled for an art class. They were friends for years and got married in May of 2008.

In 2008 Alana became the new face of Garnier cosmetics.

She did various commercials and appeared in Brooks and Dunn's "There Ain't Nothin' About You" music video.
