Alana recently spoke to Latina magazine about her pregnancy and the rather shocking cancellation of ‘Law & Order’. Her little baby boy who is tentatively named Axel is due on October 11th and Alana is already very excited about the arrival of the new family member. Here is a bit of what she said about the experience of being pregnant:

As an actress, you’re constantly striving to eat right, work out and take care of yourself to make sure that you fit into your wardrobe. With pregnancy, you have no control—your belly is just going to get bigger. So clothing is a challenge. It’s really funny because I had little pregnancy pants at the beginning of the pregnancy and then suddenly I went to pull them up and they were stabbing me in the stomach. [Laughs].

We have forever loved the name Axel, and it has suddenly become popular. So we’re like, ‘oh shoot, maybe we should change it?’ I keep waiting for a sign from God that says, ‘OK, this is your son’s name.’

And this is what she said about the last minute cancellation of ‘Law & Order’ and having to say goodbye to her friends on the show:

We were actually supposed to be back just a couple of weeks ago, so I don’t think it’s quite hit me that the show is over yet. It’s really such a shame because when we all said goodbye at the end of last season, we didn’t realize we were really saying goodbye. We were told that it looked good for next season and so we thought we’d see each other later. When it came out that we were cancelled, everyone was a little bit shocked, like, ‘wait, a minute, I didn’t get to say goodbye to my family.’

I have some great news to report. Alana has again been nominated for an Imagen Award for her work on ‘Law & Order’. She is nominated in the category Best Actress/Television (that’s right- not Best Supporting Actress)! The other nominees are: Sofia Vergara, America Ferrera, Selena Gomez, and Caitlin Sanchez. The awards will be given out at a luncheon on Sunday, August 15th. So fingers crossed!

There has also been some chatter lately that AMC might be in serious talks with NBC about picking up ‘Law & Order’ for a new season. (You can read all about that here) But I wouldn’t get my hopes up just yet- especially because Linus Roache already seems to have his plate quite full with a play and a new show on cable coming up.

Alana is celebrating her 34th birthday today! And we would like to take the opportunity to wish her all the best on this special day- on behalf of all the fans.

Since the fate of ‘Law & Order’ is still up in the air and there’s been no news on how/if the show is going to wrap up its final story lines, there hasn’t been much to report. I have, however, added to photoshoot pictures of the whole cast that were taken at the “Law & Order” 20th Season Kickoff Celebration back in September 2009.

TNT released a statement yesterday denying claims that the network was in talks with NBC and Dick Wolf over possibly picking up the show for a 21st season after all.
I suppose there are still other options to be explored- but I wouldn’t bet on seeing the show again (anywhere). So unless I am explicitly (and with all the details) told the contrary, I will treat this season’s finale as the last episode of ‘Law & Order’.

Alana released the following statement on the matter on her website:

“Well guys, it looks like the Law & Order chapter is closed for now – at least for Rubirosa and the rest of the mothership. All I can say is, I am infinitely grateful for the opportunity to have been part of such an iconic show. It’s an experience that I will always cherish and look back upon with many fond memories.
The producers, writers, directors, cast and crew are not only very gifted, but just such great people. May new and exciting jobs find you soon.
To all the loyal Law & Order fans, thanks for tuning in and keeping the show alive as long as you did. Onto my next adventure- hope to see you there!”

Over 20 new videos from the last four episodes of ‘Law & Order’ have been added to the video archives. I am very sorry that I have only gotten around to adding them now- but I have been incredibly busy lately.

As all of you have probably heard by now, NBC recently announced their (in my opinion) rather surprising decision not to renew ‘Law & Order’ for a record breaking 21st season. The network decided to pick up the new spin-off series Law & Order: Los Angeles instead.
The show’s creator and producer Dick Wolf, however, is still claiming that the show is not dead yet. Saying:

“The flagship series is in a medically induced coma, waiting for a live-saving medicine.”

Rumor has it there is talk of the show moving to TNT or getting some sort of a tv special to tie up all the lose ends. But at this point that’s all just speculation…

We have some exciting news to report this morning. Alana and her husband Michael Roberts are expecting a baby! Alana and Michael who got married in May 2008, have now confirmed that they’ll welcome their first child in October. Congratulations! PEOPLE Moms & Babies
talked to Alana about it. Turns out the Law & Order writers are actually going to write her pregnancy into the show. Which means Connie Rubirosa will also be having a baby.

“I have been extremely lucky — kissed by angels! — and haven’t had any symptoms except for being extra tired.”

“My character doesn’t have a boyfriend, she’s not married, no love interest … in the season finale there’s a scene in a bar and I was joking around with everyone as we were filming, saying, “Oh, I think tonight’s the night Connie gets knocked up!””

Alana and the rest of the Law & Order gang were busy filming the show’s season finale last week. But this was no ordinary shoot- they were joined by a very special guest: Olympic star Lindsey Vonn, who appears as an administrative assistant with a vital clue in a case involving a terrorist. They were photographed filming a scene for the finale in Brooklyn on April 9. Pictures from that day and a couple of images from way back in January have been added to the gallery. Law & Order will return with new episodes on May 3rd.

Vesta Vamps recently had the chance to do an exclusive interview with Alana. They sat down with her to mark Women’s History Month. Here’s what she had to say about working with an almost exclusively male cast, how she unwinds after work and her love for baking:

“When you’re shooting 15 hours a day, there’s no time to pay attention to the “boys club.” You have to jump in and you swim or you sink! Besides, I think they probably now think of me as one of the boys.”

“I have a very understanding husband! (laughing) I almost always have the weekend off, and I just take it day by day. When something’s important to you, you make time for it. We just make it work. He takes great care of me. When I come home so tired that I can’t quite form a sentence, he feeds me and puts me to bed! That’s actually happened several times. He’s even blown-dry my hair as I lay on my pillow more than once.”

“When I have time, I LOVE to bake. I love the mixers, the pans, cups and gadgets. And most of all I love to eat afterwards! I’m also a huge arts and crafts nerd! Love to make homemade gifts and sentimental keepsakes.”

After what sure seems like an endless break due to the winter olympics, Law & Order returned to our tv screens on Monday. The show debuted on its new night with not one but two whole new episodes. It’s great to finally have the show back!

Unfortunately Alana did not attend the Children’s Rights Alliance dinner earlier this week. Sam Waterston, Angie Harmon and Dick Wolf, however, were in attendance. Law & Order will come back to NBC on Monday March 1 not one but two new episodes. Until then you can get your Law & Order fix by watching the new promo NBC has put up on their website.
